Grand Tours of Cycling:

In cycling, grand tours are considered to be stage races that last three weeks. More than 20 days of pure cycling on the road to determine which cyclist is the strongest and best prepared to overcome such physical effort. The grand tours of cycling are:

1. Tour de France:

The grand tour par excellence. The best cyclists travel to the Gallic country every year in July. It has been held since 1903 and is the one with the longest history. It has a great media impact and a multitude of fans on each of the stages of the Tour de France. Every cyclist dreams of lifting his trophy on the Champs Elysées with the mythical yellow jersey of Tour champion.

The 2023 Tour de France will start on July 1 in Bilbao, with a mountainous stage and a single 22-kilometer time trial.


For 2023, the Tour will be 4,404 kilometers long, with eight days of high mountains and four summit finishes, making it ideal for climbers.

2. Giro d'Italia:

The season of great cycling tours begins in Italy. It is held annually in May, and there are three weeks of pure cycling through an area as beautiful as the Alps, a place where the positive vertical drop is high. The leader carries with him the renowned 'maglia rosa'.

The Giro d'Italia 2023 will be held from Saturday 6 to Sunday 28 May 2023 over 3,448.6 kilometers spread over 21 stages, starting in Fossacesia Marina and finishing in Rome.

 3. Vuelta a España:

The cycling competition par excellence in Spain serves to bid farewell to the grand tour season. In the Tour of Spain, mythical places of cycling such as Los Lagos de Covadonga, l'Angliru, or the Bola del Mundo, where unforgettable stages have taken place over the years.

The start of the 2023 edition will be from Barcelona. The race will be held from August 26 to September 17, 2023.

These grand tours vary their route each year, but always take place within the corresponding countries or include some nearby ones.
